We’re back with another real life look into an actual wedding day and an interview with the bride behind the day! This time, we’re chatting with Michelle, who planned her elegant blue and white wedding at Chicago’s Swissotel. Let’s dive in!
How long have you and your spouse been together, and how did you meet?
5 Years – We both worked at DePaul University’s gym, the Ray Meyer Fitness and Recreation Center. I was technically his boss!
How did they pop the question?
He took me out to dinner at the restaurant where he originally asked me to be his girlfriend!
If you had to describe your wedding style in three words, what would they be?
Classic, Romantic, Fun
Tell us about your wedding day fashion. Where did you say Yes to the Dress, and what designer did you wear?
Bella Bianca Bridal Couture in Oakbrook, and the designer was Martina Liana.
How about the fashion for everyone else?
The groom and groomsmen attire came from The Black Tux, and the bridesmaid dresses were from Here Comes the Bride.
When it came to planning your wedding, what was the most important to you?
Getting married at DePaul’s church, since we met at DePaul and we cherish our Catholic faith.
What was the best part of your wedding day?
Performing the sacrament of marriage at DePaul’s church, especially since we met across the street at the university’s fitness center.
If you could provide one tip to other couples planning their wedding, what would it be?
Never forget that your love for each other is what the day is actually about – If the focus is your love, everyone will feel that, and everything will flow from it.
When it came to your venue selection, why did you choose to get married there?
We wanted a space that fit our personality as a couple, could accommodate our big guest list, and served great food. The Swissotel’s recently renovated space felt the perfect blend of elegant, modern, and glamorous, and the views of the lake, river, and city took our breath away.
Now for the hard question – Are there any things you would change about your wedding day?
We never got to eat our late night snack because we were too busy on the dance floor, not a big regret but I wish I had taken a minute to go get some!
Anything else you would like to share with other couples?
We chose to have appetizers delivered to our hotel room so we could take a break between the ceremony and reception to eat privately – best thing we did! As the night went on I was too high on adrenaline to really enjoy dinner, so I was glad we had slowed down to eat the appetizers.
One last question – what made you chose to work with Rachael?
We were initially attracted to how vibrant and timeless your photos felt, but what sealed the deal was how kind, thoughtful, and detail-oriented you were!
